I was reading an article recently about how too many of our kids are overweight.  The article was very optimistic, in that, if parents get involved and become active participants in our children's health... we could get our kids at healthy weights.

Sounds good.  The problem is the article, from BaltimoreSun.com, was 19 years old.  So almost 20 years ago we had this problem and today it's even worse.  Recent studies show that 1 out of 5 kids are obese (not just overweight - but obese).  What happened?

Personally, I don't have this concern with my son.  He is the absolute polar opposite of obese.  He's skinny.  That doesn't mean I don't struggle with getting him to eat healthily.  He's an active boy but I don't know that when he becomes a teenager he won't become less active.  So we try to instill in him a healthy active lifestyle (which isn't always easy when your job is sitting at a computer most days).

So we would love to hear your ideas, opinions and thoughts on why you think our children are still getting bigger.  Are you concerned about your child's weight?
